Presidential Primaries

Why should a handful of people in Iowa and New Hampshire choose the president?

Political parties run the primaries and caucuses that choose their political candidates, but most candidates drop out after the Iowa Caucus and the New Hampshire primary. In 2024, barely more than 500,000 people voted in those races, meaning 0.0014% of the US chose the candidates for the rest of us.

And, 97.5% of the US isn’t even allowed to vote in those elections, because Iowa and New Hampshire are two of the smallest states in America - and two of the least diverse.

It’s Undemocratic! And it unduly influences national policy.

The solution? Rotate the order of presidential primaries every election, taking into consideration diversity of region, races, urbanness, etc.
